Abstract
This study aims to explore how architectural students are engaging with the concept of biophilia in their thesis work, with a particular focus on the translation of theory into design practice. The research is framed around a comparative analysis of selected student projects embodying biophilic principles.
The relevance of this inquiry lies in the growing urgency to shift architectural paradigms toward regenerative and restorative design. By examining student interpretations and applications of biophilic design, the study seeks to identify emerging themes, typologies, and conceptual frameworks that reflect this shift.
Preliminary findings suggest recurring motifs of resilience, sustainability, and restorative design, with students increasingly referencing ecological integration and human-nature connectivity. This research underscores the importance of deepening our understanding of biophilic principles in architectural education. It advocates for a pedagogical shift that supports symbiotic relationships with nature, moving beyond consumption toward regeneration.
