Abstract
Research aim & positionality This interdisciplinary study examines the perspectives and approaches of early childhood kaiako and creative arts therapists in facilitating creative arts experiences for autistic tamariki within inclusive and therapeutic settings. Exploring the literature RESEARCH QUESTIONS - What are EC teachers/CA therapist’s perceptions about their own creativity and the significance of the creative arts within their respective areas of practice? - What obstacles do educators encounter when integrating More arts-based curricula to promote inclusion; and what knowledge, skills and attitudes do educators need to develop to inclusive teaching environments for tamariki? - What are shared objectives and distinctions in the approaches of early childhood teachers and creative arts therapists when using the creative arts to support autistic children, and how may these insights guide understandings of inclusive art experiences in early childhood education?
