Abstract
How could the 'architect' approach the issue of uniting the site and wider landscape with the imposition of the man made form? ... Buildings that appear to be intrinsically part of their place have an integration which lends them such power that they seem to enhance the human awareness of connectedness to, and understanding of, the world. They even seem to honour human purposes and take humans to levels of profundity that verge upon the sacred. This state of resolution between building and site, once perceived, is so deeply desired that it forms a paramount and overriding design intention. Therefore the purpose of profound architecture is to find its place; it must make us see the inherent character of this place in a new light.
