Abstract
Christchurch has an unprecendented opportunity to lead the world in green urbanism. It is a city on a flat plain, known for its sprawling, low rise suburbs and industrial areas, many of them in the city centre. We see Christchurch's flatness as an opportunity for experimenting with an approach to urban sustainability and resilience which harnesses low density.
