Abstract
西人进入藏区早在蒙元时期就已有先例。这些早期的入藏西人或依据 自己在藏区的亲身经历或通过道听途说留下了大量有关藏区政治经济、地理历史、 宗教礼仪、风土人情的通信、笔记、考察报告及研究论著。这些书信和论著中 都或多或少都提及藏族音乐和歌舞习俗，特别是仪式歌舞与乐器。以 14—18 世 纪进入过藏区的几位西人的通信、日记、考察报告为例，检索他们对卫藏方言 区藏族音乐歌舞活动的描述。这些描述虽非民族音乐学意义上的研究，但亦可 弥补中文藏族音乐研究史料之不足，为学界了解域外对西藏音乐的认知过程也 可提供佐证
