Abstract

RESEARCH QUESTION How can craft nudge us toward a more sustainable future? ABSTRACT There are many things to think about in this world, and there are many things to do. Craft lies in the valley between thinking and doing. It keeps us present, but allows us to wander into alternative creative realities in search to improve this one. There are certain things we can do to manage what we focus on so that we stay present in our thoughts and actions. The most effective way of doing this, is by moving our bodies. Of course, there are times – such as writing this document – where one needs to be still and let your mind wander to parts where ideas are brought to life. However, when you stay in this 'still mode' for too long, you risk drifting too far in, and start to struggle with linking it back to reality. In a different sense, if you never enter, then you never truly understand what you are doing in the first place. The pigment of human culture is naturally rich with colour, however, there are things which mix it all around and intends to dilute the spectrum to a monochrome counterpart. This happens when we leave the world machine in sixth gear, focused on winning the race, rather than enjoying each turn as we take them. We can forget to take notice of the richness around us and the beauty presented in everyday occurrences when our minds have trouble slowing down. What you will be exposed to as you journey through this document is a product manufactured to hold the human element of being, close; alongside nature. The essence of the orderly messiness which we experience on a day to day basis is something quite interesting and is a design element that was used to influence the aesthetics of the presentation, as well as the experience of the architecture
