RESEARCH QUESTION AND METHODOLOGY
The aim of this review is to determine what peer reviewed empirical evidence is available regarding the effects of intermittent fasting (IF) on glycaemic control in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Additionally, the review will aim to identify the variations of IF being practiced or used in these empirical studies, and will determine the existence of various definitions of IF. The scoping review is the most appropriate methodology to meet the purpose of this study as IF is a relatively new and evolving concept that has not been comprehensively reviewed for the use of glycaemic control in people with T2DM.
