    Abstract
Leucism is a condition where the lack of deposition of melanin in the skin results in a white or pale coloration of the animal, but the eyes maintain normal pigmentation (cf. albinism; Bechtel 1995. Reptile and Amphibian Variants: Colors, Patterns, and Scales. Krieger Publishing Co., Malabar, Florida. 206 pp.).
