    Abstract
    1884 年伦敦国际卫生博览会期间,中国展厅内展有四十多种中国乐器。赴会 的六名中国乐人除了每天定时在展区内的中国茶室和餐厅奏乐外,还应邀为英国皇亲国戚 的社交活动助兴。是谁决定将中国音乐作为博览会的主题之一? 是谁将中国民间乐人推向 了国际舞台? 这些乐人演奏了什么乐曲? 伦敦报界又是如何报道中国乐人的表演呢? 本文 拟通过对中国旧海关出版物中晚清参加世博会之展品目录、晚清海关洋员间的相关函电以 及伦敦当时的新闻报道的解读,来回答这些问题,旨在通过中西原始文献之比较来补充前 人研究所未见,并试图厘清目前研究中的相关疑点。
