Do new digital tools challenge who we are or what we do as language teachers? This session draws on theory, practice and recent research in CALL to explore some of the realities of keeping pace with new tool and software development. Appropriate strategies will be discussed for helping teachers best make decisions about which tools to ‘choose, to use or to refuse’ as Chapelle (2006) suggests, including the notion of affordance as a useful lens for pedagogical integration. Suggestions will also be given to support teacher learning from a situated perspective.en_NZ
